The top hit for installing fonts is a stack exchange thread pointing to a 3rd Party download, given that I knew that office came with the fonts, I just needed to figure where they were. Is having FileVault active really necessary? That's up to you. Depends on how critical you think it is to keep anyone else from opening any data in your user account. Unfortunately I bought this mac with these programmes already loaded on Um, so you have a bunch of expensive, illegally installed applications? If the person who sold you the Mac didn't give you the disks that go with the third party applications on the drive (like InDesign, Suitcase, etc.), then that's what they are. Do the right thing and purchase the programs you use. I'm sure I can remove some programmes to free up space, but I'm too scared to as I don't quite know what I'm doing! Don't worry about Font Book. You could always move it off to a CD or other drive rather than just deleting it. But do remove it so it doesn't conflict with Suitcase. Suitcase normally holds these fonts. Suitcase does not hold the fonts. It only shows you links to the fonts themselves. Those fonts are only there as a means to install them for each new user account on your Mac. Neither Office or any other program will see those fonts. They should have been installed into the Fonts folder of your user account the first time you used any one of the Office apps. If you removed them afterwards, you'll need to reinstall them. To do that, copy all of the fonts within the Office folder to the Fonts folder in your user account. I'm sorry to sound really stupid here, but how do I reinstall them? I opened word in applications and found the correct font folder and I copied this folder and placed it on my desktop. To get to my user account, I presume I go to - Mac HD - Users - Admin? There is no fonts folder in admin. Should this one I copied be in there? The fonts in my Library are the fonts from 'font book' which I don't want to use in word. Should I delete these fonts in the library and replace them with the correct fonts?
